Description of Château Beau-Site, Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, AOC Saint-Estèphe
The Château, just behind Château Calon-Ségur, lies on one of the highest points of the Médoc with a fantastic view over the Gironde. Beau-Site’s wine is full of temperament, full-bodied and elegant. The vintage 2002 won the Gold Medal in the Grand Concours Agricole in Paris 2004. Guide Hachette regularly recommends Beau-Site, Decanter Dec. 2004 highly recommends it. Grape Variety: 30% Merlot, 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet-Franc, 3% Petit-Verdot Total area: 120 ha Vineyard area: 35 ha Soil: Gravel Annual production: 200 000 bottles Average age of the vines: 30 years Fermentation: 14-20 days Ageing: 12-18 months in oak barrels Percentage of new barrels: 40% annually
